COMPREHENSIVE COURSE

Comprehensive course is an obligatory professional course with an exact timetable date with 6 credits per semester in the Educational and Research Stage. The timetable date is always defined according to the lecturer’s and the students’ schedule at the beginning of the semester.

The Comprehensive Course covers different topics in each of the four semesters of the Educational and Research Stage.

The four topics of Comprehensive Courses are the following:

- Research Methodology (lecturer: Dr. Gábor Domokos)

- History of Building Structure (lecturers: Dr. János Krähling, Dr. István Sajtos)

- Informatics (lecturers: Dr. András Árpád Sipos, Dr. Péter Várkonyi)

- 3D modeling: Theory and Applications (lecturers: Dr. András Árpád Sipos, Dr. László Strommer, Dr. Balázs Halmos)

RESEARCH PROJECT

Obligatory course during all the eight semesters of the curriculum, without exact timetable date. The grade is defined by the supervisor according to the student’s research activity in the semester.

In the Educational and Research Phase the subject earns 12 credits in each semester, while in „Research and Dissertation Phase” the subject earns 24 credits in each semester.

Representing one of the most important part of the curriculum, Research Project consists of credits from the student’s research activity that is overlooked at the end of each semester by the supervisor and the Doctoral School. By giving credits for research activities, the supervisor proves that by acquiring all research credit points before the end of the 4th semester, the student meets the precondition to be admitted to the Comprehensive Exam, and similarly, by the end of the 8th semester, the minimum requirement of acquiring a degree is met.

PUBLICATION

The minimum amount and quality of publications are determined by the requirements of the Model Curriculum and the Comprehensive Exam application. By the end of the 4th semester min. 16 credits must be earnd. The time organisation of the publications is the PhD student’s responsibility, that must be in accordance with the regulations of the Code of Studies of BME (BME TVSZ), the Doctoral and Habilitation Procedures of BME (BME DHSZ) and the Doctoral School.

EDUCATION UNDER GUIDANCE

Optional module in the curriculum, where students can improve their communication and presentation skills under the guidance of a designated lecturer. The educated subject is set by the head of the supervisor’s department – with the agreement of the supervisor. The completion of the subject is certified by the head of department based on the opinion of the designated lecturer.
